Rapid Product Development

Additive Engineering revolutionizes product development. Leveraging advanced 3D printing, AI technology, and agile project management, we transform your ideas into functional prototypes at twice the speed and half the cost of our competitors.

We’re your trusted partner, setting the standard for quality, speed, and customer service.

Client Project Showcase: BallZup

BallZup was a project that we helped bring from initial concept sketches into production overseas. We worked together with our client Brian Tidmore on nearly ten different design iterations for the end cap, repeatedly refining, prototyping, and testing until it was perfect for his needs.

Brian was able to leverage our entire team as we assisted him not only with 3D design and functional prototypes but also with materials and manufacturing process selection. We also helped him prepare detailed manufacturing drawings which enabled a smooth transition into higher volume production.

He is so confident in the quality and durability of his product that he now offers a ten year warranty on it.

Initial Concept → Computer Aided Design → Proof of Concept Prototype

Refined Functional Prototype → Advanced CAD and Production Ready Drawings → Mass Production

Initial Concept

First, Brian sent us a basic drawing showing his idea and proposed dimensions.

CAD

We quickly turned his concept drawing into a 3D model.

Proof of Concept

With the 3D model we rapidly printed the initial concept so we could field test it.

Within one week Brian was able to get his parts in hand.

Refined Prototype

Learning from our prototypes we continuously refined the product’s dimensions, design, and material choice via iterative testing.
We optimized the design for low volume production and used off the shelf components to produce a viable product for for beta testing.

Production Drawings

After successful field testing we determined the best dimensions and tolerances to ensure quality. We then worked with injection molding experts to improve the design and create detailed engineering drawings.

Mass Production

Working together with Brian and an overseas manufacturer we enabled a seamless transition into mass production.

"Working with the team at Additive Engineering turned out to be the most important stage of bringing my product to market. Without their technical expertise, I would not have been able to provide my manufacturing partner with the necessary 3D CAD files, technical drawings, and raw material information to produce my product.

Additive Engineering made the process surprisingly easy on my end. I sent them my rough drawings, and they turned them into highly accurate digital files and 3D printed my prototypes for testing. The prototypes were extremely accurate and worked great. They then prepared all the files required for high quality manufacturing, and we have now gone into production without any issues.

With Additive Engineering’s guidance, my company has produced a high end product for the sport of tennis. The quality of our product is such that we are able to offer an industry leading 10 year warranty. I could not be more pleased with our results.

There are many reasons a manufacturing company should choose Additive Engineering for 3D design, printing, and production prep services, such as Additive’s deep understanding of manufacturing methods and materials, expert 3D printing and prototyping, fast turnaround (extremely fast), and competitive cost. However, the best reason to work with the people at Additive is their enthusiasm. They are genuinely excited to be helping people with good ideas bring their vision to market, and they will put in the extra time and effort to make it work."

Respirator Masks

When Additive Engineering was in its conception back in 2020, one of our first projects was when a nearby surgery center contacted Cris to design and manufacture respiration masks due to concerns about mask shortages in the early pandemic.

As a senior engineering student at Cal Poly SLO, Cris worked closely with doctors and nurses by designing and testing multiple iterations to develop a refined product.

Cris improved upon an existing open source design making it more comfortable, durable, and increased the filter size by 50% to make it easier to breathe. He then helped manufacture hundreds of N95 masks, ear savers, and face shields. Since then, we have only increased our capabilities.
